great white sharks are the most misunderstood animal on the planet. once you have an opportunity to dive with them you begin to understand their true nature and predictable behavior. they are not the mindless eating machine that the media portrays them to be. the thrill and excitement cannot be compared.

amos’ experience and leadership skills ensure that diving out-of-the-cage is safe and respectful to the animals. his adventures will continue to educate divers while adding more to our understanding about great whites, and i can’t wait to be a part of the next trip!

i have made eight trips with amos, and that speaks for itself — swimming with humpback whales, orcas, blue whales, great white sharks — and walking in the footsteps of shackleton in antarctica. unparalleled intimate experiences guided by a terrifically talented man.

i was shoulder-to-shoulder with amos when he took the amazing ‘air jaws’ photo. and my photos turned out great as well — thanks to his coaching. there are others that claim to be able to provide the opportunity of a lifetime but few can deliver like big animals expeditions. if you have dreamed of going on an exotic, adrenaline-rushing adventure, then stop dreaming, start living, and call amos.

after watching shark week on the discovery channel i searched the web looking for a shark diving expedition for everyday people like me. no other web site came close to being as comprehensive and rich in images than big animals. i signed up right then and there and couldn’t be happier that i did.

i have had the opportunity to dive with amos, and he has been a great mentor of mine over the years. amos nachoum is one of the premier underwater — and for that matter — nature photographers in the world. his devotion and willingness to push the frontiers with challenging subject matter — whales, and large sharks in blue water for instance, along with exploring new locations — sets him apart from the crowd. i might add that if and when things get tough, he is the one i would want to be with.

we have had the pleasure of joining amos on three two-week dive trips to the galapagos islands. he is a terrific host who brings in depth knowledge of the wildlife and the photographic technique to capture it on film (or tape or memory card). he is ready and willing to share that knowledge without being intrusive. on top of that, he is a great shipmate with a sense of fun and adventure (and humor). we look forward to traveling with him again in the near future.

after hearing amos recount his sailfish encounters i knew it was a trip i had to experience. the trip blew away all expectations! amos runs a full white glove service, from the time you leave the airport till you step into his shadow. the boat was spacious, comfortable and very organized by the ever smiling crew. once you hit the water and become surrounded by jousting sailfish you have to make a huge effort to remember to breathe. this is not a trip to miss and it can only be led by someone like amos. his talent with a camera is only exceeded by his passion for capturing the animals at just the right moment. i consider it a privilege to watch him work his craft.
