AFRICA’S BIG CATS ARE CALLING…

This epic adventure goes beyond the Africa many of us dreamed about as children. Yes the clear, cloudless skies are overhead and the vast herds of animals will fill the horizon as far as we can see. On this extraordinary expedition we will go beyond the vast herds of wildebeest and zebras. Together we will be in search of two of Africa’s large cats, the cheetah and lion. Our focal point on this expedition is the predation, birth and nursing cycles of these magnificent predators. To behold these sleek, graceful and incredibly powerful felines in their natural habitat is an experience not to be missed.

Our exclusive small groups allow us to provide you something no one else in the world can offer. You will be able to watch and photograph these cats as few people in the entire world can. Imagine watching a young mother nurse her cubs. You’ll be able to notice when she shifts and directs her attention on the herds of prey animals surrounding them. A hunt will be taking place. Again our small group offers you the ability to stay completely focused. You’ll be able to move around the vehicle and photograph a full 360 (degree) angles. Just like a National Geographic Expedition except YOU are in the vehicle capturing the incredible images.

No detail of our expedition is without purpose. The timing of our trip has been meticulously planned. With over 35 years of experience in Africa we know the best times to observe the large cat animal behavior. Our long relationship with the locals also adds a quality of service and assistance. This is truly an epic adventure.

The Circle of Life will bring you up close, very close to these amazing predators. You will be witness to the incredible moments in the cat’s life cycle. From birth to nursing to predation. All of this you can capture on camera. And with our extensive photography coaching you’ll achieve breathtaking photos.

Now is the time to book your life changing expedition to witness and take part in the Serengeti’s Great Annual Migration. Join us on this exclusive expedition ‘The Greatest Show on Earth!’

Is this trip right for me?

Our Circle of Life Expedition is open to anyone from 16 to 90. Physically this trip is leisurely and designed for people in good health and who enjoy the outdoors. We will take a maximum of 6 individuals. Two guests each will be assigned to a vehicle which ensures maximum comfort, safety and the best opportunity to observe and photograph the limitless wild life on display. With only two people in each vehicle you will be able to move about freely. Your line of view and opportunity to photograph will not be hindered. We spend the majority of our time sitting and viewing the animals. Here patience is rewarded.

Our focus and purpose of this trip is the life cycle of the large cats of Africa. We will view these animals and their life cycle from birth to nursing and to predation. This will take place during the annual Great Migration which hosts an estimated one million antelope, mostly wildebeest, and over 500,000 zebras. Herds so massive they can be seen from space. These prey animals bring in the large cats and provide us opportunities to witness and photography the predators as they hunt. The cheetah, being the world’s fastest animal, is an incredible sight to witness and photograph.

Daytime temperatures are 80-100F (26-37C) with nighttime temperatures 60-70F (15-21C).
Please request a copy of the complete trip details (we can insert link here) to read full trip details and to hear about our incredible encounter with a mother cheetah and her cubs.

The Serengeti is a vast ecosystem on the continent of Africa and located mainly in Tanzania. The Serengeti hosts the largest mammal migration in the world. This is often referred to as ‘the Greatest Show on Earth!’ The largest herds consist of wildebeests, gazelles, zebras. There are more than 70 large mammals and over 500 bird species in the Serengeti.

Traveling to the Serengeti in such a small group allows us to provide an expedition no other company in the world offers. We have the ability to focus our attention on the cats and view and photograph them like no one else can.

With over 35 years of experience in Africa we are proud to have a 100% safety record. Enjoy your trip to its fullest and have complete peace of mind when you book with BigAnimals Expeditions.
Means of transport on our Photographic Safari

Matembezi Classic Camping

Matembezi Classic Camping

We rise early surrounded by the sounds of the African bush, your tent attendant already left freshly brewed coffee and tea on your veranda. The golden morning light paints the savannah as we lazily take in the majestic beauty that surrounds us.

Matembezi Classic Camping

Matembezi classic camping is a real out of Africa experience. A small and intimate camp with only 6 guest tents, it shifts each season following the great migration. The camp was expertly designed to strike a balance between light and mobile enough to reach the best and most secluded wildlife location, guaranteeing world class game viewing, and providing everything discerning travellers might expect.

Matembezi Classic Camping

Our mode of transportation will be with vehicles equipped for off-road. These are open air style and are designed to provide the best viewing and photography experience. Each vehicle will be limited to a maximum of two guests. This ensures the best viewing, photography and comfort.

With just two guests per vehicle you will always have the ability to move about and take pictures without restriction. In essence it is ‘always your turn’. While large tour groups must keep their guests to one side of the tour bus our guests are free to follow their subjects. This means your shots will not be blocked or hindered.
